Dear Friends and Supporters,

I have devoted my 27-year career in law enforcement to protecting the citizens of Douglas County, the last four as your Sheriff. I am committed to providing Douglas County citizens and visitors with the highest quality of service so that our communities can continue to maintain an excellent environment in which to live and raise a family.
My experience as Sheriff over the past four years has given me a lucid insight as to the needs of the community. During my term as Sheriff, we have continued to be recognized as one of the premier sheriff’s offices in Kansas. We have worked hard to improve services to the community via new technology and efficiency with the court system. Our training division has established programs so that continuing education for our Officers can be conducted “in house” and, subsequently, have shared a wealth of knowledge with other departments in the area to enhance their own training efforts.
Communication with our community is key. To create a more effective environment, one that will encourage interaction, my staff developed a public website for the community. Here the public has access to important information about how this office conducts the business of law enforcement, as well as answers to your frequently asked questions. We want you to know we are here for you, to keep Douglas County safe and informed.
I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Douglas County, and beginning a Citizens Academy to continue keeping the community knowledgeable of the workings of our office.
I hold the office of Sheriff in the highest regard and am committed to serving this community with dedication and enthusiasm. I will continue to work with other public agencies to address the concerns of the community and to protect the citizens to the best of my abilities.
I am asking for your support in my campaign. Please take a moment to review the support card link. Your comments are welcome and I appreciate your support and your vote this November.
Sincerely,
Ken McGovern, Sheriff
Douglas County
